Medicare Help in Little Egg Harbor and Tuckerton, NJ

A couple on piggy back at Holowchuk Health Advisors
  • I'm Tom Holowchuk, a licensed, independent Medicare broker based in nearby Manahawkin. My help costs you nothing.

  • Coverage that works where you get care

  • Living at the southern end of Ocean County means your doctors may be spread out. Some people go north to Manahawkin, where Southern Ocean Medical Center is located. Others see specialists in Atlantic County or further away. That matters, because many Medicare Advantage plans use a network of doctors and hospitals, and going outside it can cost more.

  • Before I suggest a plan, I check:

  • that your doctors and specialists are covered,

  • that the hospital you'd want to use is covered,

  • that your prescriptions are on the plan's drug list, at a price you can live with.

  • Serving the area's 55+ communities

  • Little Egg Harbor has several active-adult neighborhoods, including Four Seasons at Harbor Bay, Sunrise Bay and Mystic Shores. Many residents moved here from somewhere else. If you've moved recently and kept a plan from your old county or state, it may not work well here. A permanent move can give you a Special Enrollment Period to choose new coverage. Let's check before you need care.

  • Medicare choices, in plain English

  • Original Medicare (Parts A and B) is run by the federal government. It covers hospital and medical care, but you pay deductibles and usually 20% of approved costs, with no yearly limit.

  • Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans help pay those leftover costs. You can generally see any provider that accepts Medicare.

  • Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans are offered by private companies approved by Medicare. They usually include drug coverage and may include extras, but often use a network.

  • Part D drug plans cover prescriptions if you have Original Medicare.

  • I'll show you how each option would work for you, not just in general.

  • Don't forget the extras

  • Original Medicare doesn't cover routine dental, vision or hearing. If those matter to you, we'll look at Medicare Advantage options with those benefits or at standalone dental coverage. I can also explain hospital indemnity plans, which pay you cash during a hospital stay.

  • Frequently asked questions

  • How much does your help cost?

  • Nothing. My help costs you nothing.

  • Can my spouse and I meet together?

  • Of course. Couples often have different needs, and you don't have to choose the same plan. We can review both of you in one conversation.

  • I'm turning 65 soon. When should I call?

  • About three months before your 65th birthday month is ideal. That's when your Initial Enrollment Period starts.

  • Will you help me after I enroll?

  • Yes. Each fall, during the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7), I review your plan against what's new for the coming year, at no charge.
