Medicare Help in Toms River, NJ

A couple on piggy back at Holowchuk Health Advisors
  • I'm Tom Holowchuk, a licensed, independent Medicare broker serving Ocean and Monmouth County from Manahawkin. I compare the plans I offer in your ZIP code and explain them in plain English. My help costs you nothing.

  • Check your doctors and your hospital first

  • Many Toms River residents get hospital care at Community Medical Center on Route 37. Others see specialists in Brick, Lakewood or Monmouth County. If you choose a Medicare Advantage plan, the network matters: seeing doctors outside it can cost more. Before I recommend anything, I check that your doctors and preferred hospital are covered and that your prescriptions are on the plan's drug list.

  • Help for Toms River-area 55+ communities

  • The Toms River area is known for large active-adult communities such as Greenbriar Woodlands, and the Holiday City and Silver Ridge Park communities that many people know by a Toms River address (parts of them sit in Berkeley Township). Clubhouse conversations about Medicare are common, and so is confusion. What worked for your neighbor may not be right for you, because your doctors, medicines and budget are different.

  • Too much mail? Here's how I help

  • Every fall, Annual Enrollment (October 15 – December 7) brings a flood of mailers and phone calls. Here's how a review with me is different:

  • No pressure. We talk about what you need first, not what's being advertised.

  • Your list, checked. Every doctor and every prescription, against every plan I recommend.

  • Honest advice. If your current plan is still the right fit, I'll tell you to keep it.

  • Ongoing help. After you enroll, I'm your person for questions, and I review your plan each fall at no charge.

  • Turning 65 or retiring?

  • If you're turning 65, your Initial Enrollment Period starts three months before your birthday month and ends three months after. If you're working past 65 with employer coverage, you may be able to delay Part B without a penalty, but the rules depend on your coverage. If you're retiring, you'll usually have a Special Enrollment Period to sign up for Part B and choose a plan. Let's get the timing right so you aren't hit with a late penalty that can last for life.
