Cancer, Heart Attack & Stroke Plans in Ocean County, NJ

A serious diagnosis brings costs Medicare was never designed to cover. A cancer, heart attack and stroke plan pays a lump-sum cash benefit directly to you at diagnosis, so you can focus on getting better instead of the bills.

How It Works

A cancer, heart attack and stroke plan, sometimes called a critical illness or lump-sum plan, pays a single cash benefit when you're first diagnosed with a covered condition. You choose the benefit amount when you enroll, commonly anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000 or more, and it's paid to you, not to a hospital or doctor.

The money is yours to use however you need: deductibles and copays, travel to a specialist, a second opinion, help at home, lost income for a spouse who takes time off, or simply keeping the household running while you recover. Medicare pays the medical bills. This plan handles everything Medicare doesn't touch.

Most plans cover invasive cancer, heart attack, and stroke as the core conditions. Many also include benefits for things like coronary bypass, kidney failure, or major organ transplant, and some pay a smaller amount for early-stage or in-situ cancer. I'll walk you through what each plan defines as a covered event so there are no surprises.

Who It's For

This coverage makes the most sense if a serious diagnosis would create a financial problem on top of a medical one. That's most of us. Even with good Medicare coverage, a cancer diagnosis routinely means thousands in out-of-pocket costs in the first year, and a stroke or heart attack can mean rehab, home modifications, and months of reduced income for the household.

It's especially worth considering if you're on a Medicare Advantage plan, where out-of-pocket maximums can run several thousand dollars a year, or if you have a family history of any of these conditions.

Premiums are based on age and benefit amount and are typically affordable, especially when you enroll in your 60s. Most plans ask a few health questions, but many are available year-round with no enrollment window.

Every Step Toward Greater Protection.

Adding It to Your Coverage

This is a standalone policy that sits alongside your Medicare Advantage or Medigap plan without changing it. The benefit amount is yours to choose, and I'll help you size it to your situation rather than defaulting to the biggest number. If you're already a client, this is something we can look at during your annual review.
